Survey of DOOM
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Tall and scrawny, with somewhat awkwardly long limbs.
2. How old is he?
27
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He stands fairly straight.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He's not really very fit, he doesn't do too much physical activity.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He's fairly nimble--unless he's nervous. Then he gets klutzy.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
About so-so. I'd call him average if his looks weren't so unusual. He thinks he looks pretty good. He's sometimes unsure if there isn't something everybody else sees that he can't though.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
INCREDIBLY PALE. Like, I-have-no-idea-how-this-happened kind of pale. It doesn't appear to be makeup, as it never washes off. It seems to just plain be from lack of sunlight. As a basement-dwelling nerd and also a goth, it makes a certain amount of sense.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
It's bright red, and kinda spiky up top.
9. What color are his eyes?
Red. There's some fanon that he's an albino, but I prefer to play it as just inexplicable (because that's funnier XD).
Ok, there are also some things about him being albino that don't make sense, too. Like why does good!Jack have more peach-ish skin? Why does Jack still have red hair in Time After Time, despite the world clearly being a place with little access to hair dye? I dunno, in some ways it makes sense, in some ways it doesn't. I prefer to just not address the issue. It's less of a headache. And funnier.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Not really.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
His neck and upper back.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
It's black and gothic. Normally he wears a ragged black trenchcoat, yellow-lensed goggles, and steampunky boots. Occasionally he wears a nice black suit... with the steampunky boots.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
They're tailored, they better fit.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
He pretty much only wears the suit for formal occasions, otherwise it's all about the scruffy trenchcoat.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers, usually with little smiley faces on them. Very evil, I know.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Just a tad high-pitched ranging all the way up to extremely shrill. It depends on how scared he is.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He talks pretty easily, and rather a lot. He speeds up and gets shrill if he's really frightened.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Does randomly declaring yourself the Prince of Darkness or an Evil Genius count as a tic? He's mostly cured himself of that by now, though.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Mandarin and English. He is fluent in both.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He occasionally uses Chinese honorifics if he's trying to be really polite and/or professional.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He's a terrible impromptu speaker. XD He's getting better about reflecting on what he's saying before it slips out.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He's never eloquent. Articulate, yes. He gets inarticulate if he's around someone he really likes and is trying to make a good impression (because he's so used to that blowing up in his face...).
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He has a genius level IQ. He's pretty much just robot-smart though. If it had nothing to do with robots, conquering the world, or one of his evil heroes, he had little interest in books. And though he's getting better, he's... not what I'd call street-smart either.
So... He has a great brain, but seems to dislike using it?
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
It depends on what he's attempting. A lot of things he can handle without preparation--but some things he needs time to figure out how to handle.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Intuitive and scattered. He teeters on the edge of idealism and practicality.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
He finished high school a year late and never went to college. He's a self-taught roboticist.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Robotics, mainly. He's interested is anything that will help him achieve his goal of world domination.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert, but he tries to hide it. He's worried about opening up too much to anyone.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Enthusiastic, somewhat melodramatic (although he's gotten a lot better about that!), cheerful, and snide
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
With politeness. Or complaining. he switches back and forth, dependent on the exact situation.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
It's about equal.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight, oddly enough. Often his cowardice will get the better of him and then he'll run, but he's strangely feisty for such an enormous wuss.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He has a decent sense of humor. He enjoys irony, and especially humor with an edge to it. His jokes tend to be politely rude/mean.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Yes. ADHD, several phobias, generalized anxiety, and used to have a separation anxiety disorder. Does really low self esteem count?
For the ADHD, he's on Ritalin and has had extensive therapy to help him learn to manage it. For the phobias he has been taught methods to help him manage fear. Ditto for the anxiety (I'm not currently sure if he's also on tranquilizers or not). The separation disorder was eventually cured through therapy. For the low self esteem... well, therapy helped a bit, but mainly he just keeps insisting to himself that he's awesome.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
((Note to self, do this later)) When he decided he was going to be evil (in second grade). When he first met Wuya, and learned about the Shen Gong Wu. When he helped the monks take down Wuya. When he developed the tech to not be reliant on Wuya. When he met Chase Young. ((Insert stuff I'm sure I'm missing.)) When he had his mental breakdown. ((More stuff.))
14. What does he fear?
Ahhahaha...
Um, lets see. In no particular order:
Clowns
The dark
Losing his mother
Being unimportant all his life
Being flushed down the toilet
Pain
Failure
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To conquer the world; to be important and a success in everyone's eyes; to punish everyone who ever pushed him around.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That his greatest fear is being flushed down the toilet.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Very loving. He and his father were never exactly close, as Mr. Spicer spent much of Jack's life travelling the world on business. Jack and his mother however were always very close, to the point where he used to have a separation anxiety disorder centered around her.
Curiously, despite the good relationship, neither of his parents ever had any idea what he did in his spare time.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Though roboJack and good!Jack are seperate entities from him, they're still not exactly siblings, so...
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He hates his cousin Megan. She bullied him since she was 5 (and Jack was about 14-15!) and finally about two years ago he punched her in the face to make her leave him alone. Her half of the family has been estranged from him ever since.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Nope.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Never had one. The closest he ever got was Wuya, but they rarely had each others' best interests in mind and were always willing to betray each other.
6. Does he have other close friends?
Nada.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He is awkward socially and not very nice--so no, not a big friend-maker. Additionally, he's a bit wary of making friends period. The people he likes best are, well... evil. Evil people tend not to be sweethearts for some reason.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
His only friends are his robots, and he's not super attached to any one unit. He loves his mother and father, but he hates his cousin and her family. At this point, not even he knows which he'd care more for.
I'd guess friends (with the exception of his mother) would be most important to him though, if he could bring himself to make any close ones. You can't pick your family, and sometimes your family are jerks; and you're still stuck with them. With friends, you get to actually be with people you like (and who hopefully like you back).
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Chase Young. He still sort of holds a torch, but he's finally accepted that Chase actively hates him, and has done his best to move on. He doesn't have a current crush.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Intelligence, competence, and evilness.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Not a one. He doesn't have any real feelings one way or another on the subject. He doesn't particularly like small children, due to experiences of his 5-year-old cousin bullying him mercilessly, but if his partner wanted kids he wouldn't be against the idea.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Um.
This is complicated.
He used to be enemies with the Xiaolin monks, and is still technically on the opposite side from them, but he hasn't even interacted with them in ten years. And all his Heylin "friends"? Were giant dicks. Among the Heylin, anyone you're not working with right now is competition. And anyone you are working with could turn on you at any point. And they all despised Jack.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
2.5 is not a valid rating :(
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
It isn't very. He has vague ideas that sex is kinda neat and might be nice to have someday, but he's not losing any sleep over it. He also feels that he's too socially awkward to ever get a relationship that far. And no, sex without a relationship has not occurred to him. He would be too shy to go that route anyway, but he doesn't currently realize that's even an option.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Power is a big turn-on for him. Not sure about the turn-offs yet. He'd be pretty vanilla in bed though, unless he had an adventurous partner.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
It's never stated in canon. However, given that monkeys are his running theme, I'd guess he was born in the year of the monkey.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
He's spiritual, in a very vague sort of way. He doesn't really have any religious beliefs. Neither is very important to him.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Not really? Though if he actually had any real friends (besides his mother) he probably wouldn't betray them. But he'd definitely think about it.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Indifferent, mostly. He's mostly figured out the whole "shades of gray morality" thing most people seem to believe in--but solely for the purposes of faking having a normal code of ethics. If someone gets too pushy with their ideologies though, he'll find a way to punish them.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He believes that Evil is awesome. I'll let you decide if that's rational...
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Jack has always been rich. He's never wanted for essentials--however, in the past he has sometimes run out of spending money, and had to support his evil ventures with barter or loans. So he sort of grasps the concept of being poor, in a spoiled-child sort of way.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He's always been one of the upper class, although he never felt accepted by his peers.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He moved out of his parents' basement a whole two years ago, and currently lives in a smallish but upscale house in the middle of a large estate. His bots keep it in pretty good repair, and have added a huge basement to the original structure (which houses his robotic bot production line). It's his base of operations. He lives there alone--aside from the bots--and NEVER has visitors over. It is his secret sanctuary.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Robot parts.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
For a living? He has a trust fund. But he does make a decent enough amount of money from his bots (he just sinks most of it back into parts, is all). He's an exceptional roboticist, and wouldn't rather being doing anything else.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Reading about his evil heroes, talking to his mother on the phone, planning world conquest, and building robots. Yes, I know the robot-thing is also his job. He doesn't care.
Occasionally he goes to various social gatherings, where he knows one or two people, and tries to chat up strangers.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He often forgets to eat because he's so involved in whatever he's doing. He always keeps a stash of pudding around, though, as he apparently thinks it the most perfect food.

Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:
